Twarab (Saturday Night Live Concert)

 

Twarab is one of musical festivities series, which takes place during the Comorian Grande Marriage (Wedding) period. It is the biggest musical event, gathered many people during the time of Grande marriage. Twarab also is one of the major musical festival activity, which take place on Saturday night, starting roughly at 21.00 hrs and goes on through the night.

Twarab basically is a Saturday live musical concert dedicated to the Groom along with his relatives and friends. They are all expected to dance as much as they can and give as much money as they can.

Member of the public are welcomed freely to watch, dance and have as much fun as they like.

The groom would normally expected to invite different musical groups of his choice including the musical group from the area he comes from within Village.

The traditional way of starting Twarab is by Calling one of the leader of the area where the groom come from to welcome the public and call the groom along with his relatives and friends to take seats. Once the groom and his entourage of relatives and friends seated, the speaker of the night will give a brief history about the groom followed by kick off of the Twarab Concert. However, it is impossible to start the music before the groom and his crowd arrived in the place where the activity takes place.

Once the groom arrive it therefore a time to start the Twarab. The first band will play approximately 60 minutes, and then the other groups will follow one by one.

Throughout the Twarab Concert, the groom, his relatives and friends are expected to flash as much money as they can to the singers and musical groups. The public also can throw as much money as they wish to singers of their choice or even give to the groups.

According to the Comorian traditional Wedding, the night of twarab is considered to be one of the most important night throughout the Wedding period. It is the night every one has been wait to shine and stand out in the crowd. Men must drss up their suit and Women are expected to beautify themselve by Jewellery and expensive cloths.

The Saturday night is indeed an unforgetbale night and if you get the chance to attend the Comorian Grand Marriage, make sure you attend the event fully. You will definitely love and enjoy it. By the way the Grand Marriage takes place between the period of July to middle of September, however it can take place in another months, depends on the arranagement, though most well know time for the Grand Marriage is in July and August.

iIf anyone hopes to discover the Grand Marriage, the best time to catch it is between July and August. The occasion certainly is not exclusive affaire, normally everyone is invited, but obvious it is better to wait around a bit looking curiously, with no doubt, you will be invited to join in. However, do not attempt to take photos! Allways requeste a permition and it will be gauranteed with no cost to be applied.

Try to enjoy it as much as you can while you sitll there. Try also to take as many photos as you can so that you can share the a virtually experience with some of your freinds ans relatives.
